Today was a birthday party for one of the little girls at Hannah's school. We had two today but one was cancelled due to the birthday girl being home with a fever. I was a little bit relieved...I had taken the girls to school, Wendy came by and visited and brought over some daffodils, went to Kristine's to do some scrapbooking and then off to get Hannah at 12 to pick her and up take her to the party. A whole bunch of us from school we going so we just drove in a train to get there since only one of the moms really knew where we were going. So off we drive to the little village, knowing this house was going to be big since the name of the house was the village name and then "House" we drive through the gated driveway and see a beautiful front garden with trees so tall they hide the front of the house, go around the bend and there is it....THE MANSION. This house was HUGE! There were like 20 windows on each side of the front door with this huge front door. They are renovating it since it's hundreds of years old and has been in the family for generations. It was like an old Lords house. We walk in to this massive foyer and there is this grand staircase right there. It's one of those houses you see in movies like Pride and Prejudice where like Mr. Darcy's family lives. The ballroom is huge....my house could fit in it and the kitchen was every chef's dream I'm sure with a not so typical "breakfast nook" considering two 12 people tables fit in it. It was absolutely beautiful and I loved how they kept some of the old Tudor beams visible. Then we went into the lounge and Hannah about peed her pants...there was Cinderella dancing to Disney music....there was a DJ there too. Balloons, strobe lights, in this beautiful room with detailed crown moldings, this chandelier light that was to die for and the type of wall paper you would see in the Victorian period. Another mom and I looked outside and saw a pool, and then tennis courts, a huge tree house, monstrous 30 foot hedges with the arches...a maze and soccer field. This estate was on 7 acres but it seemed a lot bigger. It was seriously like we were in a movie...the types of things we can say...."Oh we went to a birthday party in the late Lord so and so's house."
The party was a ball! Cinderella had her magic box where she had make up, nail polish and hair clips to get the girls ready for the party. She sang Disney songs, danced with all the kids, and was American. We chatted for a bit, Hannah was impressed I talked to Cinderella for so long. The food was delicious. Most importantly, Hannah had a blast. What little girl wouldn't want to have go to a princess party with a princess and in a "castle?"
We ended our evening by going over to Ryann's and having a tasty dinner. It was nice to just sit and chat...then came home put the girls to bed and I talked to my mom and then read. By the time Dan came home which was 9, I was ready for bed. We attempted to watch James Bond again but fell asleep fairly quickly. Saturday Dan works and so we are having a lazy day. I'm excited...it feels like I have been going all week.
